Yesterday marked the Autumn Equinox, the first day of fall. And, while I know that technically I should have posted this yesterday, today I am posting a fun new craft to celebrate. The craft is called "Festive Scarecrow," and involves sculpting a small ornamental scarecrow and blackbird cirounded by pumpkins.
I didn't make this tutorial, but it is done really well with step by step, easy to follow instructions. They didn't link to the products you would need (though they do list them) so I also found and put together the slideshow above for easier shopping. Good luck, and happy crafting!
So, I was going to manipulate some of my photos from my recent camping trip tonight and post them, but most of the pictures were of the camp fire and my camera just doesn't have a fast enough shutter to get good campfire pictures without them looking blurry. I did take some pretty ones of the lake, but nothing I liked enough to manipulate. But, as I have really started looking at photo enhancing lately, I thought I'd give it a go with a different picture.
The original photo here was taken 8/26/2010. If you are wondering why he, Sebastian, looks wet, it is because I am one of those odd people who insist on bathing my cat.
I really love how the enhanced photo turned out (click the image to see the enhanced version LARGE). There are only two real complaints I have with the finished version. 1) I forgot to isolate the name tag from the background and it ended up blurred too and 2) I wish I could have brought out more shadows in the white area on Sebastian's face, as his muzzle looks a little bleached out.
Any feedback is welcome (especially if you have any ideas how to do better in the future).
I'm pretty proud of how he turned out. He was just meant to be a quick image down for the purpose of a Facebook profile image (for a website called "The Cat Clan") but turned out cute enough to share around. As always, constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated.
