Snakes!

Posted On 04-21-2010 , 11:07 PM

So, I really wanted to finish off this picture before posting it, but am in the course of moving from my tiny (pathetic) apartment into a bigger and nicer townhome and haven't gotten much time for drawing lately.  Rather than make you wait for the update, I am posting a glimpse of this latest project.

(P.S.  If you follow me on DeviantArt or are a fan of the CraftyArtWorld Facebook page, you may have already seen this)

Brush Viper

This fabulous creature is, or will be, a Brush Viper: my favorite type of snake.  The Brush Viper is native to Africa and has slightly pointed, upturned scales that give it a slightly hairy or fuzzy look...which is what makes it my favorite.  I can't resist anything fuzzy, even if it only appears fuzzy!

I will post more as I get a chance to work more on the picture.  In the meantime, wish me a speedy moving so I can get back to drawing more regularly!  ;)

1. Anika, I hope your move is progressing quickly and smoothly. It's exciting moving to a new place... all the opportunities for getting rid of the old and bringing in the new - not to mention the decorating opportunites that go with it. I hope your new townhome includes a big kitchen. (I'm remembering the problems you had with the gothic wedding cake that you blogged about last year.) ^.^

As for the "fabulous" fuzzy viper... to each his own fuzziness; personally, I prefer your fuzzy cats; but I expect from an artist's point of view, you're doing a fabulous job on the viper. ^.^

Reply to Marie:

Thanks!  It is progressing reletively smoothly, just not quickly.  After working all day and week, it's hard building up the energy to unpack, so lots of stuff is still in boxes.  I love the decorating too though, so when I do get around to it, it's lots of fun.  And yes, the new kitchen is HUGE!  Loving that too.  My cats are greatly enjoying all the extra room to run around and the extra opportunities for creating trouble (especially where those unpacked boxes are concerned!)

Love my fuzzy kittens, but the Brush Viper is pretty cute.  Just wait til he's done, you'll think he's cute....in a terrifying, "don't let that thing near me" kinda way maybe, but still cute.  ^.~

Regards ~
