Stylized
Posted On 08-30-2010 , 10:51 PM
Got bored tonight and wanted to try a different style than usual and....
My boredom resulted in a more stylized version of my Sebastian kitten. Why? No idea, just bored and playing with the pen tool for a few minutes while Facebook was being...let's just stick with the polite "annoying," rather than listing any of the more descriptive words that hit my brain. ;)

Cat TV
Posted On 08-03-2010 , 11:47 PM
Found a new Photoshop tutorial on creating a vintage TV and decided to give it a try. The tutorial was kinda lame (skipped a few steps and some steps were just not possible in any way I know how to achieve), but with a lot of effort I was able to pull it off. So I stuck my beautiful Andy kitty in the TV and made him famous!

Kitten Sebastian
Posted On 07-30-2010 , 9:05 AM
About 2 months ago a new fiend...er....feline was introduced to my home. His name is Sebastian, and he is a Tuxedo kitten. He was 3 months old when I got him, and pretty sick, though it was just a bad case of the kitty flu. He's now 5 months and is the most adorable little trouble-maker that I know, waking me up every morning (and I mean EVERY morning) by either biting my nose or rubbing against my face until I get out of bed and feed him already.
As is my custom with anything adorable an fuzzy, I naturally had to draw him. Only fair, as I've drawn my other cats. So, below is the adorable Sebastian, debuting here for all to worship and adore:
When a kitten gets sick, the way Sebastian did, his inner eyelids (a third eyelid inside his others) swells. Sebastian's did, and though the swelling has gone down quite a bit, it never truly disappeared, giving Sebastian a constant, and slightly adorable, appearance of glaring. It really is adorable on him because he is so tiny and fluffy, he has the longest fur of any cat I've ever had the privilege of serving.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this bit of fluff to brighten up your mornings.
Sebastian was drawn in Adobe Photoshop using the brush tool to create the basic color and shape, the Burn and Dodge tools to create the shadowing and highlights, and the smudge tool to do all the detail work (giving him the lovely fuzzy appearance....love the smudge tool!)

Pure Beauty
Posted On 07-12-2010 , 10:08 AM
Today, instead of showing off my own artwork (which I haven't had time to work on recently), I'm showing off the artwork of one of my best friends: Sayjinlink of DeviantArt. Sayjinlink goes by quite a few different names, including Leviathan and, amusingly, Tiny. I've known him since we were both lowly middle-schoolers. At the time he was my best friend's little brother, though as we got older he came to be one of my best friends as well and I was honored to be a witness at his wedding.
A few weeks ago, he created the below piece of art, titled "Pure Beauty in Meditation" as a present for his wife.
As I find the peice incredible and romantic, I decided to share it with all of you. If you happen to have a DeviantArt account, please log in and take a look at his other artwork or leave a comment on this piece. If you don't have an account, feel free to leave a comment here and I will pass it on to him. He loves hearing what others think of his art (as do all of us artists, I believe) so don't be shy with your opinions!

Been a few weeks since I worked on this one, but pulled it back out again tonight and thought I'd share the small progress I've made:

Creating Animated GIFs in Photoshop
Posted On 06-16-2010 , 11:21 PM
Well, it has been a few weeks in planning, and a few days in working, but finally got another YouTube video tutorial created and uploaded!
To bring this video to you this lovely evening, I finally got some decent software on my computer for screen capturing. The free programs kinda stink (sorry, but true), but you can always rely on Adobe for good software. Adobe Captivate created this nifty vid...CS4, which even let me publish the finished video to AVI format (which is one of the formats YouTube actually accepts, so that was necessary).
I hope you all love the video, and appreciate the headache I got trying to get everything in place for it! ;) The written tutorial for this is coming soon (hopefully very soon, but I make no promises).

Draw a Frog

NEW TUTORIAL!
I know, I know, it has been forever since I added a new tutorial to the site. I am honestly ashamed. I completely blame it on moving though, which has been good for me, but bad for website release scheduling.
Anyway, I hope you all forgive me for the recent inactivity and I hope you enjoy this new tutorial on how to Draw a Frog.
P.S. View just the finished (non-moving) frog by clicking the thumbnail below.

Snakes!
Posted On 04-21-2010 , 11:07 PM
So, I really wanted to finish off this picture before posting it, but am in the course of moving from my tiny (pathetic) apartment into a bigger and nicer townhome and haven't gotten much time for drawing lately. Rather than make you wait for the update, I am posting a glimpse of this latest project.
(P.S. If you follow me on DeviantArt or are a fan of the CraftyArtWorld Facebook page, you may have already seen this)
This fabulous creature is, or will be, a Brush Viper: my favorite type of snake. The Brush Viper is native to Africa and has slightly pointed, upturned scales that give it a slightly hairy or fuzzy look...which is what makes it my favorite. I can't resist anything fuzzy, even if it only appears fuzzy!
I will post more as I get a chance to work more on the picture. In the meantime, wish me a speedy moving so I can get back to drawing more regularly! ;)

YouTube Channel
Posted On 04-06-2010 , 12:14 AM
Tonight was spent working on a background for CraftyArtWorld's YouTube Channel.
Now I realize there are only two videos in said YouTube Channel, but someday there will be more...and the Channel was ugly. I dislike ugly things. So now it's pretty. Yay!
So take a look and keep an eye on it for future videos! And let me know what you think of the pretty new background. If anyone has any ideas how to improve it, I'd appreciate a comment. :)

Vector
Posted On 03-25-2010 , 1:00 AM
I've been having a lot of fun playing with vectors lately. Below is one that I did tonight (or, based on the time now, I guess last night. Wow, I need to get to bed).
P.S. Notice some style differences in the site? I've tried to keep the same basic look and colors, while making the site look a little more modern and stylish. I hope everyone likes it!
